RASA SENANG is a Chinese-Indonesian restaurant located in Heerlen (Heksenberg), where hospitality and a passion for good food are central to our business.

We prepare authentic Asian dishes with a strong focus on quality, taste and presentation. To strengthen our kitchen team, we are looking for an Independent Working Chef 1 with knowledge and practical experience in Chinese cuisine.

Job Description

As an Independent Working Chef, you will be responsible for independently preparing dishes according to our menu and quality standards. You will also support and guide the kitchen team during busy periods.

Your responsibilities will include:

* Independently preparing dishes according to the restaurant’s menu and quality standards.
* Preparing, processing and portioning ingredients independently.
* Applying basic cooking techniques used in Chinese cuisine.
* Ensuring compliance with hygiene and food safety requirements in accordance with HACCP guidelines.
* Working closely with the kitchen team and supporting colleagues during busy periods.
* Checking stock levels and managing orders.
* Maintaining effective inventory and purchasing management.
* Providing technical guidance and supervision to kitchen assistants.
* Directing and adjusting the work of kitchen assistants when necessary.
* Contributing ideas regarding the composition and possible changes to the menu, dishes and preparation methods.
* Monitoring the quality, taste and presentation of dishes.
* Taking responsibility for the organization and efficient operation of the assigned kitchen activities.

Requirements

We are looking for a motivated and independent chef who:

* Can work independently and also function effectively as part of a team.
* Is passionate, creative and has an eye for detail.
* Is flexible and able to work effectively under pressure, including during busy periods.
* Has a good understanding of hygiene regulations and food safety.
* Has an MBO level 3 working and thinking level, or an equivalent level of knowledge and experience.
* Has demonstrable knowledge of basic cooking techniques used in Chinese cuisine.
* Is willing to take responsibility for their own duties and contribute to the organization of the kitchen.
* Has relevant practical experience in Chinese cuisine.
